Mac: Remove the Modem, and other icons from the top bar

Recently I was getting annoyed about having the modem and bluetooth icon on the top bar on my Mac, OS X. It is not obvious how to do this. The Bluetooth you can remove from the Bluetooth System Preferences, but the option to remove the modem is not there. There is an easy way to do this though:

Press and hold Command and click on the icon to either remove as you would from the Dock (poof effect), or just drag to a new position.
